Andy Heller Is the sweet little Russian from last time still there?
The brothel is a transit-room. Single rooms are let mostly on a daily or weekly basis.
Thereby the brothel becomes for both prostitutes and clients simply a transit spot.
Because of the high demand during the World Cup finals the number o fprostitutes
in Germany increased significantly. The number of cases, how many women and girls,
mostly brought from Eastern Europe against their will, is unknown.
Trafficking is the catchword.
In this project Andy Heller examines the subject of the brothel which acts as both
temporary workplace and dwelling. Her photographic eye focuses on the details of
daily life and on the stereotypical, profitable interior decorations which serve the
trick in the projection of his dreams and desires. In the process she chooses
various approaches and captures the small, easily over-looked details and workaday
articles in the interior of the brothel room.
