CALL FOR ENTRIES

Anonymous Drawings is an art project initiated by the artist
Anke Becker.
Under the pseudonym blütenweiss since 2006 nine exhibitions in changing art spaces took place. More than 5000 artists from all over the world have been involved since then.
This time blütenweiss and Anonymous Drawings will be hosted the second time at
Kunstraum Kreuzberg / Bethanien

CONCEPT
For each ANONYMOUS DRAWINGS - exhibition a selection of drawings by international artists will be presented anonymously.
The general exhibition preparation starts with an international call for entries on the Internet. No demands are being made; age, biography or heritage of the originator do not play any role for the selection.

The artist's anonymity can be lifted by means of purchasing a drawing for the symbolic unit sales price of 150 EUR. The buyer can take his drawing right off the wall and s/he is then told the name of its author. The empty space the drawing leaves behind will be marked with the artist’s full name and country of origin.

The given unit sales price should not be seen as a real market price, but as a place holder for any conceivable amount of money. Because the works are from both established artists and laymen, it is expected from the viewer to draw his own line between art and not-art. Common, art specific mechanisms like the importance of an artists’ ego, price formation or prepared qualities which can be referred to a specific art context, should be reversed in this exhibition in an experimental way: the artists engage themselves to put their own person into the background for the benefit of the actual product, their artistic work.

A confirmation of receipt and the result of the selection will be sent out per email. The selection for th exhibition takes place in the middle of November.

IF YOU DONATE ALL YOUR DRAWINGS TO THE ARCHIVE IN CASE THEY DO NOT SELL DURING THE EXHIBITION, YOU DON'T NEED TO ADD 10 EUR FOR THE POSTAGE

blütenweiss will publish a brochure (black/white - 100 pages), showing a selection of 100 anonymous works, which is available for 10 EUR during the exhibition and later on-line at the blütenweiss - shop for the price of 13 Euro.

Artists selected for the publication will be informed prior the opening.

The artists receive 100 EUR of the sale-price of one drawing. The other 50 EUR will be used by Kunstraum Kreuzberg / Bethanien and blütenweiss for the realization of further exhibitions and projects.

In the case of a sale the artist will be informed via email directly after the show.

Through all Anonymous Drawings exhibitions since 2006, an Archive of around 800 selected anonymous drawings is arisen. The archive can be shown in the context of travelling exhibitions.

Every artist who is part of the exhibition has the opportunity to donate one ore more works to the Archive to support the anonymous project: If the drawing/s do not sell during Anonymous Drawings N°10 the donated works will pass into the blütenweiss-archive. In case of a sale in the content of future travelling exhibitions the avails will be used to realize further anonymous shows.

Unsold and not archived drawings will be returned until the middle of February 2010 at the latest.

Please Note:

Works cannot be returned without the payment for the postage!

A personal pick up of submissions is not possible due to organizational reasons.
